The Projects Standard Products Cannot Handle

Every standard separator, dryer, and stabilization column on our product pages was designed for a defined set of operating conditions. Real projects frequently fall outside those definitions -- unusual fluid compositions, extreme pressures or temperatures, combined process duties, space constraints, or novel applications. This is where custom engineering begins.

Non-Standard Fluid Compositions

Non-Standard Fluid Compositions

Most separation equipment is designed for "typical" oil field fluids. When your fluid is outside the standard range -- ultra-high H₂S content, mercury-bearing gas, extremely high CO₂, heavy crude with pour point above 40°C, or produced water with elevated salinity -- a catalog product is a starting point at best.

LINSON OIL's process engineers begin from the fluid composition and work forward. The CNOOC Wushi Dehydration and Demercurization Skid began with exactly this kind of challenge.

Combined Process Duties in a Single Skid

Combined Process Duties in a Single Skid

EPC projects frequently require that multiple process steps be integrated into a single compact skid with a defined shipping envelope and a single point of responsibility. A separation + dehydration + heating + metering skid cannot be assembled by bolting standard products together.

We design and fabricate these integrated process skids from a single P&ID, with a single FAT that tests the entire system as a unit.

Extreme Operating Conditions

Extreme Operating Conditions

High-pressure reservoirs (>10 MPa), high-temperature wells (>200°C), arctic or desert installations (-50°C to +55°C ambient), sour service with high H₂S, and weight-critical applications all require engineering departures from standard designs.

Material selection, thermal design, structural analysis, and code compliance require engineering judgment. LINSON OIL holds the licenses and maintains the capability to execute systems at these boundary conditions.

First-of-Its-Kind and Pilot Systems

First-of-Its-Kind and Pilot Systems

New field development concepts, novel production processes, technology validation projects, and pilot-scale systems require equipment engineered from process fundamentals -- there is no reference design to copy.

LINSON OIL has delivered two government-designated First-of-its-Kind Equipment systems (2024 and 2025) and has the fabrication flexibility to work through the iterative design-build-test cycle that novel projects require.

The Engineering Process

From Blank Page to Commissioned Skid -- What In-House Engineering Actually Means

Many equipment suppliers offer "custom engineering" -- which in practice means forwarding your specification to a third-party engineering firm, receiving a process datasheet, and fabricating to that datasheet without understanding the design basis. The risk is the gap: the mechanical fabricator does not own the process design, and the process engineer does not own the fabrication quality.

LINSON OIL's custom engineering capability is integrated: our process engineers, mechanical designers, instrumentation engineers, and fabrication team work within the same organization. There is no gap to fall into.

1

Process Basis Definition

Inlet fluid composition, flow rates, operating pressure/temperature, product specs, plot plan constraints, and design codes. Agreeing on the design envelope before engineering resources are committed.

2

Conceptual Process Design

Developing the flow scheme: sequence of separation, heat transfer, and mass transfer operations. Phase behavior analysis and identification of key process variables controlling performance.

3

Simulation & Sizing

Rigorous simulation software modelling. Outputs: separator diameters, packed heights, heat exchanger duties, vessel volumes, and control valve Cv requirements.

4

P&ID Development

The master document showing all equipment, piping, instrumentation, control loops, and safety interlocks. Reviewed internally across disciplines before client issue.

5

Mechanical Design

Vessel design to GB 150 / ASME VIII. Nozzle layouts, lifting calculations, support design, and structural skid design coordinated within the shipping envelope.

6

Instrumentation & Control

Control philosophy, PLC logic programming, field instrument specification, and control panel engineering. FDS issued for complex systems.

7

Fabrication & Assembly

Fabrication in our 30,000 m² facility. Piping, structural steel, equipment mounting, and cable installation completed in-house. Progress inspections at agreed hold points.

8

Factory Acceptance Test (FAT)

Dimensional inspection, pressure test witness, instrument loop check, PLC function test, and SCADA verification. Non-conformances resolved before shipment.

9

Export & Shipping Support

Export crating, full shipping documentation, customs coordination, and optional onsite commissioning engineers for final installation.
